By the time they complete high school, students in a PTAA \n P-TECH\/ECHS can earn up to 60 or more hours of free college credit, leading to \n an associate degree.\n <\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-question\">\n <span>What is dual credit?<\/span>\n <i class=\"fas fa-chevron-down ptech-icon\"><\/i>\n <\/div>\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-answer\">\n <p class=\"ptech-paragraph\">\n Dual credit programs allow high school students to enroll in college courses \n for credit while still in high school. College credits earned through dual \n credit can be applied toward high school and college graduation and can be \n transferred to other colleges or universities.\n <\/p>\n <p class=\"ptech-paragraph\">Benefits of dual credit:<\/p>\n <ul class=\"ptech-list\">\n <li>Provides a head start on postsecondary core requirements.<\/li>\n <li>Expands the variety of classes available to high school students.<\/li>\n <li>Allows access to college facilities\/activities.<\/li>\n <li>Provides greater opportunities for a coordinated, seamless education.<\/li>\n <li>Serves as a \u201ccontrolled\u201d introduction to college life.<\/li>\n <li>Allows for an easier transition to college.<\/li>\n <li>Builds students\u2019 confidence and self-esteem.<\/li>\n <\/ul>\n <\/div>\n\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-question\">\n <span>Who are the PTAA higher education partners?<\/span>\n <i class=\"fas fa-chevron-down ptech-icon\"><\/i>\n <\/div>\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-answer\">\n <p class=\"ptech-paragraph\">\n PTAA higher education partners include: PJC, Dallas College, TAMUC.\n <\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-question\">\n <span>Who are PTAA P-Tech Industry Partners?<\/span>\n <i class=\"fas fa-chevron-down ptech-icon\"><\/i>\n <\/div>\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-answer\">\n <ul class=\"ptech-list\">\n <li>Hardi Global<\/li>\n <li>Sharp<\/li>\n <li>Microsoft<\/li>\n <li>Nasa<\/li>\n <\/ul>\n <\/div>\n\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-question\">\n <span>Who can attend PTAA P-TECH\/ECHS?<\/span>\n <i class=\"fas fa-chevron-down ptech-icon\"><\/i>\n <\/div>\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-answer\">\n <p class=\"ptech-paragraph\">\n The P-TECH\/ECHS are designed to serve ninth and tenth grade students who have \n the determination to attend college and are first-generation college students \n who have been historically underrepresented in higher education. Interested \n eighth-grade students, who will be freshmen next year, can apply for the \n upcoming school year.\n <\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-question\">\n <span>How do students apply to attend a P-TECH\/ECHS?<\/span>\n <i class=\"fas fa-chevron-down ptech-icon\"><\/i>\n <\/div>\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-answer\">\n <p class=\"ptech-paragraph\">\n Students can apply by completing and submitting the online application for \n their campus: Fate, Greenville, North Dallas, Mesquite Oates.\n <\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-question\">\n <span>If I am a returning P-TECH student, do I reapply?<\/span>\n <i class=\"fas fa-chevron-down ptech-icon\"><\/i>\n <\/div>\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-answer\">\n <p class=\"ptech-paragraph\">\n No. Returning PTAA P-TECH students do not need to reapply, but both students \n and parents need to sign the annual agreement here:\n <a class=\"ptech-link\"\n href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSdfqXiRMsTdlcVbckUFff3vpMMAPSuP8RC9FOB0BhbBxTcQaA\/viewform\"\n target=\"_blank\">PTECH Annual Agreement<\/a>\n <\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-question\">\n <span>Where will students attend class?<\/span>\n <i class=\"fas fa-chevron-down ptech-icon\"><\/i>\n <\/div>\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-answer\">\n <p class=\"ptech-paragraph\">\n Students will spend 9th and 10th grade on their high school campus taking \n core courses in a dedicated wing. The students will spend 11th and 12th \n grade on their higher education partner campus.\n <\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-question\">\n <span>What about transportation?<\/span>\n <i class=\"fas fa-chevron-down ptech-icon\"><\/i>\n <\/div>\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-answer\">\n <p class=\"ptech-paragraph\">\n Transportation is provided to the higher education partner campus.\n <\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-question\">\n <span>Will students be able to participate in student activities and athletics?<\/span>\n <i class=\"fas fa-chevron-down ptech-icon\"><\/i>\n <\/div>\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-answer\">\n <p class=\"ptech-paragraph\">Yes!<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-question\">\n <span>Will I have to pay tuition for college-level classes and textbooks?<\/span>\n <i class=\"fas fa-chevron-down ptech-icon\"><\/i>\n <\/div>\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-answer\">\n <p class=\"ptech-paragraph\">\n No. Tuition is waived for students enrolled and textbooks will be provided \n to all students free of charge. However, per PTAA\u2019s PTECH agreement, should \n a student not be successful in a course, the student is financially \n responsible for all tuition costs, textbooks, and fees until that course \n is completed with a \u2018C\u2019 or better.\n <\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-question\">\n <span>What are the benefits of attending P-Tech?<\/span>\n <i class=\"fas fa-chevron-down ptech-icon\"><\/i>\n <\/div>\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-answer\">\n <ul class=\"ptech-list\">\n <li>Earn an Associate degree tuition-free while in high school.<\/li>\n <li>Earn as many as 60 hours of tuition-free college credit.<\/li>\n <li>Eliminate thousands of dollars in college tuition costs.<\/li>\n <li>Graduate from a four-year university in less time than their peers.<\/li>\n <li>Enter the job market with work-ready skills.<\/li>\n <li>Develop workplace skills through mentorships and internships with industry partners.<\/li>\n <\/ul>\n <\/div>\n\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-question\">\n <span>How does attending a P-TECH\/ECHS improve a student\u2019s future?<\/span>\n <i class=\"fas fa-chevron-down ptech-icon\"><\/i>\n <\/div>\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-answer\">\n <p class=\"ptech-paragraph\">\n Students will earn college credit for classes successfully completed while \n in high school. These college credits are transferable to all Texas public \n colleges and universities and some out-of-state and private colleges.\n <\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-question\">\n <span>When will students start taking college-level classes?<\/span>\n <i class=\"fas fa-chevron-down ptech-icon\"><\/i>\n <\/div>\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-answer\">\n <p class=\"ptech-paragraph\">\n Students will begin taking college-level classes as early as their freshman year, \n then begin taking more classes as they progress through high school.\n <\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-question\">\n <span>Do students have to take an exam to enroll in college courses?<\/span>\n <i class=\"fas fa-chevron-down ptech-icon\"><\/i>\n <\/div>\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-answer\">\n <p class=\"ptech-paragraph\">\n Students enrolled in college courses must meet Texas Success Initiative (TSI) \n requirements. This can be done by taking the TSI-Assessment (TSI-A) and \n earning passing scores in reading, writing, and math.\n <\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-question\">\n <span>What if my child receives special education services?<\/span>\n <i class=\"fas fa-chevron-down ptech-icon\"><\/i>\n <\/div>\n <div class=\"ptech-faq-answer\">\n <p class=\"ptech-paragraph\">\n It is the policy of PTAA to afford equal opportunity education to all students. \n Students receiving special education services are given the same consideration \n in the selection as all other students.
