CTE content is aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in current or emerging professions.<\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/tea.texas.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/Required-Annual-Notification-of-Nondiscrimination.pdf\"><strong>Public Notification of Non-discrimination in Career and Technical Education<\/strong><\/a><\/p><h1>\u00a0<\/h1><h1>Internship Programs<\/h1><p>PTAA is working with several local, state, national and international internship programs that allow our students to get ready for college and careers.<\/p><h2>\u00a0Roles and responsibilities of the partners<\/h2><p>To achieve the program\u2019s goal of providing students with 1-2 year internships that lead to attaining job skills and industry-recognized certification, employment upon high school graduation, and\/or enrollment in a postsecondary institution or training program, the company will do the following:<\/p><ul><li>Provide 11th and 12th grade students with internships\/apprenticeships that run 16-32 weeks or more during the school year and six weeks each summer if there are openings.<\/li><li>Design training\/activities that allow interns to attain industry-recognized certification.<\/li><li>Provide workplace supervisors and mentors for the interns.<\/li><li>Evaluate the interns\u2019 performance.<\/li><li>Encourage\/support completers as they continue their industry-related education.<\/li><li>Consult with the school on curriculum decisions and participate in training and orientations to the pipeline program for school faculty, staff, and interns.<\/li><li>Provide faculty and appropriate staff with industry exposure (externships).<\/li><li>Evaluate program performance and make improvements.<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><h2>PTAA high school principal will do the following:<\/h2><ul><li>Identify a staff member to coordinate with the pipeline program manager and galvanize support from teachers and other school personnel.<\/li><li>Advocate for the program.<\/li><li>Brief teachers on the program and the program requirements and ensure program assimilation into the school.<\/li><li>Ensure that industry curriculum is infused into academic curriculum, where possible.<\/li><li>Ensure that teachers are credentialed in the industry or have professional development that focuses on industry needs, when possible.<\/li><li>Provide opportunities for core industry curriculum to be taught by district teachers as well as external industry professionals.<\/li><li>Support certification and postsecondary planning for program participants.<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><h3>PTAA Teachers will do the following:<\/h3><ul><li>Mark students as present when they participate in program activities, and allow them to make up on alternative days the class work and exams they miss.<\/li><li>Work with the in-school coordinator to identify potential problem areas and develop a plan to assist students.<\/li><li>Recruit, pre-screen, and help prepare students for program participation.<\/li><li>Work with the roster chair to ensure that program participants can participate in the internships.<\/li><li>Monitor grades and attendance regularly.<\/li><li>Provide opportunities for students to reflect on their internship experiences.<\/li><li>Coordinate with faculty and the company\u2019s pipeline program manager to solve problems.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Career and Technical Education (CTE) Career and Technical Education programs offer a sequence of courses that provides students with coherent and rigorous content.
